Scott Underwood Obituary, Oconee County Georgia Deputy Sheriff Has Died – Death Cause

Scott Underwood Obituary, Death – It is with great regret that we must inform you that Lt. Scott Underwood passed away suddenly late yesterday afternoon, on May 19. Born and raised in Oconee County, Lt. Underwood dedicated 21 years of his life to protecting and serving the people of this area in the role of Deputy Sheriff. Everyone who had the honor of serving with him or working alongside him adored him because of the true passion with which he approached his job in law enforcement.

Lt. Underwood was a loving husband and dedicated father to his two sons, who were now teenagers. During this challenging time, as we mourn the tremendous loss of our friend and brother and say our goodbyes, we ask that you keep his family and his family in the Sheriff’s Office in your thoughts and prayers, as well as in this tough time. Wow. Scott was without a doubt one of the most admirable persons I’ve ever met.

During the time that he worked off-duty for us at UNG, he and I developed a very strong friendship. What a wonderful human being. Scott was one of the very best law enforcement officers I’ve ever known, and I’ve known a lot of really good ones. I witnessed him manage difficult circumstances with the utmost skill. We both agreed that each other was a terrific buddy after the lengthy conversation that we had. I am absolutely heartbroken to learn this. I will be praying for him and all of his loved ones.

At this point, there are no plans or preparations in place. On route 316, he pulled me over once because the tag light on my car was faint. He was actually extremely kind to me, provided me with some suggestions on how I could make it brighter, and then sent me on my way. All of those who knew and loved him are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.
