Jonathan Logan Obituary, Death – Pembroke is the location of an active investigation into two homicide fatalities that are being conducted by the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). On the morning of May 22, 2023, just before 3:00 a.m., police were summoned to a residence on Mackay Street, where they discovered two victims who were in critical condition as a result of their injuries.

Both people were taken to the hospital, where doctors later determined that one of them had passed away. The second victim is still being treated in the hospital for injuries that are considered to be life-threatening.In short order following that, the body of a third deceased person was discovered not too far away from the initial site.

According to the investigators, the victims were specifically targeted. The public is being urged by the police to report any unusual behavior they observe in the vicinity and to take precautions to ensure their own personal safety. Under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch and working in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Centre for Forensic Sciences, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Emergency Response Team (ERT) Canine Unit, the Upper Ottawa Valley Crime Unit, and the OPP Forensic Identification Unit are participating in the investigation. All of these units are part of the OPP Forensic Identification Unit.
