John English Obituary, Death – On the morning of September 12, 2022, John R. English, who was 89 years old and a resident of Calvert City, Maryland, and the son of Ermel and Vada (Long) English, passed away at his home. John R. English was the son of Ermel and Vada (Long) English. John served honorably in the United States Air Force for the full duration of his enlistment, which was four years. Marshall County, Kentucky is the location of both his birth and his upbringing.
He retired in 1987 following a career spanning 31 years at the Ford Motor Company Stamping Plant in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Following his retirement, he relocated to his childhood home in Marshall County. John was an active member of the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church for a significant portion of his life, including many years. In addition to that, he served as the president of the Kiwanis Club in South Paducah and was a board member for the McCracken County Fair.
He was a lifelong member of the Paducah Knights of Columbus, the Thornton American Legion Post 1070, and the Steger VFW Post 8283 of Illinois. In addition, he was a member of the Ambassador Club of Paducah. Our sadly deceased father, John, is survived by his four children: two daughters, Marilyn (James) Zaerr and Denice (Joseph) Cicardo; two sons, Robert (Becky) English and John (Peggy) English; fourteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and four great, great grandchildren.
In addition, our dearly gone father leaves behind ten great, great grandchildren and four terrific, great great grandchildren. Our much loved grandfather John is survived by fourteen of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John was predeceased by both of his parents, as well as by his wife of 63 years, Patricia, as well as by two of his siblings, Terrell Lee and Peggy Sue Fiser, and by one of his grandsons, Scotty. Patricia was also predeceased by John’s parents.
