Jeff Meckstroth Obituary, Death – Jeffrey Howard Meckstroth, 66, of Piqua, Ohio, lost his courageous fight against lung cancer on May 15, 2023, after waging it for eight years. He died away in the comfort of his own home at 10:40 a.m. on Monday, May 15, 2023. He was the son of the late Jerry Meckstroth and Janet (Ginn) Weldy, and he was born on April 4, 1957 in Troy. James Meckstroth, the couple’s other son, and Judith Meckstroth, the couple’s stepmother, both of Piqua, are the only members of their family to have survived.
In 1990, he and his future wife Rhonda S. Jones, who is also still alive, were both working at the Piqua Fire Department when they first became acquainted. Before they got married on February 14, 1997 in the house they shared on the farm, they were able to forge a very intimate relationship with one another first. Rhonda has always referred to her relationship with Jeff as her “great love story.”
Other people who are still alive include his three children: Jason Meckstroth, who lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Kristin Meckstroth, who lives in Wichita Falls, Texas; and Erica Wilt, who lives in Troy. Brandy Schulz and Phil Sullenberger, both of Piqua, were two of his lifelong friends who were always by his side and thought of him as a brother. It is vital for the family to honor their friendship to him since it is very meaningful to them.
Piqua Central High School awarded Jeff his diploma in the year 1976. He was a Military Police Officer in the United States Army, where he served his country with honor. Before retiring as the Assistant Chief of the Piqua Fire Department in 2008, his primary job was that of a firefighter and paramedic with the Piqua Fire Department. He served his community for a total of 32 years in this capacity.
