Jeanette Walker Obituary, Death – On Monday, May 22, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the Norton Funeral Home in Hartsville. Funeral services will be held at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia, North Carolina, on Tuesday, May 23, at one o’clock in the afternoon. We would like to extend an invitation to everybody whose life was altered by Jeanette to join us in paying tribute to the extraordinary journey she took through her life.
Our dearly departed Jeanette left this world on 5/19/23 in a gentle manner, and it is with heavy hearts and tremendous regret that we share the news of her passing with you.
On October 1st, 1929, Jeanette Avery was born in Dallas, North Carolina. Her parents, Reel Lee Avery and Flossie Whisenant Avery, both passed away before she was born. She worked as an executive secretary for DuPont until she retired, attended Bethune Baptist Church for her whole life, and was a member of the Bethune Woman’s Club during her time there.
Jeanette was a remarkable woman who had unbounded zest for life and lived each day to the fullest. She had a strong interest in seeing the globe and took part in a variety of experiences that broadened her perspective and fed her spirit. We will always remember her infectious laughter, her vivid zeal for life, and the undying love that she had for her family.
In addition to her cherished nieces Sheila and Emmy, Jeanette is survived by her grandsons Eric “Clint” Walker and Shaun Christopher Worley, as well as by her dearest friend Ursula Archer. Her husband, Charles “Charlie” Walker, as well as her sons Charles “Chuck” Walker and Eric Lee Walker, all passed away before Jeanette. In lieu of sending flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association or another charity of one’s choosing in honor of Jeanette’s memory.
