Iris Bush Obituary, Death – Iris Elaine Bush, also known as Prue, passed away on April 29, 2023 at the age of 93 in the Battle Creek location of the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. Iris was born on March 1, 1930 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She went to West High School and was a talented singer there. Iris’s childhood was spent in the midst of the Great Depression, and she would frequently regale us with tales of adversity and perseverance.
She was a die-hard Green Bay Packers supporter who volunteered with her family to work at the concession booths at Lambeau Field during Packer games. Iris started her career shortly after graduating from high school with the Standard Oil Company, working in one of their Green Bay offices. At a local dance, she was introduced to the man who would become the love of her life, Bob Bush.
They announced their engagement to one another and then a few months later, on December 30, 1950, they wed in Green Bay. Soon after that, Bob and Iris packed up their family and moved to Battle Creek, Michigan, where they brought up their brood of six children. They were regulars at the Saint Joseph Catholic Church in the neighbourhood. Iris was an employee at Kmart for more than 15 years. Iris also enjoyed going on vacations with her family and making occasional trips to casinos, where she would play blackjack and slot machines to see if she might win some money.
Iris was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert J. Bush; parents, William and Esther (Vorpahl) Prue; siblings, Lois Prue, Daryl (Betty) Prue, Virgil (Marge) Prue, Valerie (James) Johnstone, Darlene (Harry) Sadler, Sybil “Marie” (Leeland) Meyers, Vincent (Jeanette) Prue, and Grant “William” Prue; and her dearest friends, Peggy Bush and Bernie Van Geison.
