Huw Mathias, a member of the community who volunteered his time, passed away over the course of the weekend. He was an integral part of the group.

Even after he had retired from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), which he had served as a crew member for his whole life, Huw continued to raise money for the organization. RNLI is an acronym for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. Huw’s professional life covered several decades, and during that time, he was actively involved in a variety of endeavors that contributed to the successful rescue of individuals adrift at sea.

He never stopped encouraging newly recruited volunteers to become active with the organization, even after he was elevated to the role of Shorecrew in the Mumbles boat house.
Huw was needed, as part of his most recent work, to play a significant role on a team that was assigned with the mission of generating funds for The Mumbles Raft Race. The event’s planning fell under the purview of this particular group.
