Derrick Lomax Obituary, Death – An accident that took place on Tuesday afternoon in Greenville County, according to Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, ended in the death of a driver who was operating a moped at the time of the incident. Ridgeway claims that the incident took occurred on Toledo Street close to where it intersects with Poinsett Highway about the middle of the day.

Derrick Francis Lomax, who was a resident of Greenville and was 51 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. Ridgeway asserts that a Mack dump truck pulled into a private driveway off of Toledo, partially obscuring the street with the back of the vehicle as it did so. When the accident occurred, the driver of the moped was heading westbound when they were involved in a collision with the trailer of the truck, as stated by Ridgeway. The Senior Deputy Coroner at the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, Kristy Strange, has stated that the driver of the moped who was involved in the accident with the sanitation truck was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
