David Gilmer Obituary, Death – His list of achievements is quite long. He volunteered his time and energy with dedication and thoughtfulness of soul while serving in that capacity. His mission in life was to cultivate and contribute to the growth of the local community, county, and state in order to ensure a prosperous and fruitful future for all of them.His time spent in the Navy during the Korean conflict, his graduation from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, his graduation from Cleveland State University with a Master of Urban Studies degree, and his membership in Phi Alpha Alpha are just few of his many accomplishments.
He had previously served as the President of the Fair Housing Resource Center, the Executive Director of the Lake County Development Council, a Trustee of the Western Reserve Development Corporation, the Planning Director for the Lake County Commissioners for a period of twenty-six years, an Honorary member of the Painesville Rotary Club, the past President of the Unity Church in Chesterland, a member of the Painesville Congregational Church, and the Past Commander of American Legion Post 336.
He was also a member of theHe is survived by his sons, Steven Gilmer (and his wife Amy), and Gregory Gilmer (and his wife Lori), grandkids Christopher Gilmer and Matthew Gilmer (and his wife Jenni), a great granddaughter named Elise Gilmer, brothers Vincent Gilmer (and his wife Connie) and Delmar Gilmer (and his wife Carolyn), sister Jennifer Blosser (and her husband Eddie), and a large number of nieces and nephews.
His mother Arlene Gilmer, father Robert Gilmer, Sr., son Jeffrey Gilmer, wife Marilyn Gilmer, brother Robert Gilmer, Jr., and sister Sandra Gilmer all passed away before him. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family.The Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home is in charge of making the necessary arrangements at this time. In the spring of 2023, an announcement regarding graveside services as well as a celebration of life will be made.
