Darnell Martin Obituary, Death – Death occurred on May 16, 2023, at the age of 76, at the Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc. The deceased had most recently resided in Otisville. The funeral service, known as a Mass of Christian Burial, will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at eleven in the morning. The funeral service will be presided over by the Reverend Fr. Roy Horning, and the interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.

On Monday, the family of Darnell will be present at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm to greet guests who have come to pay their respects. On Tuesday morning, she will be carried to the church, where she will lie in state from ten in the morning until eleven in the morning, the time of the Funeral Mass. Those who are moved to do so are welcome to make memorial contributions to either the Young Musicians Community or the St. Mary Catholic Church. Both the funeral home and the church will have envelopes available for people to use.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred “Bill” Halpin and Joyce (Noe) Halpin, Darnell was born on June 21, 1946 in Flint, Michigan. Her parents’ names are Wilfred “Bill” Halpin and Joyce (Noe). She received her education in the local area, attending schools in the St. Mary’s and Mt. Morris communities until graduating from Mt. Morris High School in 1964. Darnell was a skilled baton twirler who had previously performed with burning batons and had once led the parade for the Orange Bowl. Following his graduation from high school, Darnell enrolled at the University of Chicago to pursue a degree in design. She wed Miles T. “Tom” Martin on May 31st, 1969, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris, and the ceremony took place at that location.
