Cathrine Shanafelt Obituary, Death – After undergoing a condensed course of chemotherapy and radiation treatment for cancer, Katherine Genette Shanafelt passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of her home in Fort Collins, Colorado. She came into the world in Bridgeport, Illinois, alongside her sister Sharlee, and was greeted by her parents, Benjamin Theodore Ausbrook and Katherine Fredona Fletcher. She wed Jules Harry Shanafelt on January 20, 1945, and the couple went on to have three children:
Gary, who has since passed away, and his wife Christine, who resides in Bozeman, Montana; Thomas, who has since passed away, and his wife Linda, who resides in Bradenton, Florida; and Kathy, who is married to Gene and resides in Fort Collins, Colorado. All three of their children have since passed away. Katherine was a grandma to five of her grandson’s children in addition to nine of her great-grandchildren.
Her death came shortly after that of her husband, Jules, who passed away first. She was a beautiful wife and mother, and she always had a smile on her face and a word of encouragement to offer to those who were in need. As a result, she served as an example to all of those who were in her immediate area at the time. Her family and friends will grievously miss her, but she is no longer in discomfort and may finally find rest in the presence of the Lord.
