Bryan Niedert Obituary, Death – An explosion caused by a hand grenade that occurred at a residence in Northwest Indiana on Saturday evening resulted in the death of a man and the injury of his two children, according to the local police. An explosion was reported just before 6:30 p.m. in the hamlet of Lakes of the Four Seasons, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Officers arrived to the scene.
A hand grenade was discovered by a family when they were rummaging through the things of the grandpa at their home in the 3400 block of West Lakeshore Drive, according to the police. According to the report, the grenade went off after the pin was pushed on it by someone. The responding officers discovered a male who was unresponsive at the site, and he was subsequently ruled to have passed away. Later, the Lake County Coroner’s Officer determined that the deceased was a man named Bryan Niedert, who was 47 years old.
His two children, a girl who was 18 years old and a boy who was 14 years old, both suffered shrapnel wounds and were evacuated to a nearby hospital. At first, the authorities stated that the boy was 17 years old. The Porter County Bomb Squad was brought in to ensure the safety of the area and investigate the possibility of other bombs being present. The homicide investigators and the CSI section of the Lake County Sheriff’s Department are conducting the investigation. Additional information regarding the explosion was not immediately provided by the police.
