Barbara McDonough Obituary, Death – On Monday, May 15, 2023, Barbara McDonough, who resided in Clinton, New York, passed away. On August 14, 1937, Barbara McDonough, the daughter of Festus and Mary (Kelly) McDonough, was born in South Boston, Massachusetts. Her parents were Festus and Mary. Barbara spent the better part of the last half century as an educator at the Catholic schools administered by the Diocese of Syracuse.
In the beginning of her professional life, Barbara served as a Daughter of Charity under the name Sister Mary Barbara. Barbara spent the final 38 years of her career as a teacher working at Notre Dame Junior and Senior High School. She was a wonderful chemistry instructor who was able to educate her students well regardless of the students’ levels of competence. In addition, Barbara was a strong advocate for the extracurricular activities that her pupils participated in.
At each and every game, she could always be heard encouraging them to do well. She was a huge New York Yankees fan despite the fact that she was born and raised in Boston. In addition to that, she was a huge fan of Syracuse basketball and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish throughout her life. Barbara is survived by her sister, Ann Barry, who resides in Marshfield, Massachusetts, as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and her cherished friend, Sister Anna Mae Collins, CSJ. She also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her siblings Patrick McDonough, Theresa McDonough, Helen Kenney, Thomas McDonough, Mary McDonough, and Kathleen Aicardi, in addition to her parents.
