Avalon Koster Obituary, Avalon Koster Has Passed Away – Death Cause

Avalon Koster Obituary, Death – On Friday, October 14, 2016, at 2:04 in the morning, Avalon R. Portee, age 84, of Maywood, Illinois, and formerly of Carrier Mills, Illinois, passed away at her residence. Funeral services will be held at the Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, Illinois on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 11 am. The family has expressed that they want the services to be at their discretion. On Monday, the visitation will get underway at 10 a.m. and continue right up until the start of the funeral. The funeral and burial are planned to take place at Lakeview Cemetery. Pastor Steve Epting will serve as the master of ceremonies for the event.

On April 2nd, 1932, she arrived into our world in Elizabethtown, Illinois. Before she was born, both of her parents, Leonard Duncan Sr. and Minnie (Barker) Duncan, had passed away. She was married to Paul Miller, but he predeceased her. They had two children together. In the years that followed, on February 7, 1958, she tied the knot with Cecil Portee Sr., who passed away on October 16, 2015. Her husband had passed away prior to her passing. She was a member of the Hope Community Church in Chicago, Illinois, and she regularly went there for worship services.

She is survived by her brother, Gaylen Duncan, who lives in Harrisburg, Illinois; her sisters, Barbara Duncan and Nadine Collins, who live in Carrier Mills and Lake Villa, Illinois, respectively; as well as a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Parents, both of her Husbands, her Brother Leonard Q. Duncan Jr., and her four Sisters Ressie Thomas, Mildred Rouse, Juanita Jones, and Beulah Bluford. Her Brother Leonard Q. Duncan Jr. also died before her. Her only surviving brother or sister was named Leonard Q. Duncan Jr.
